Quarterback U comes to life January 18, 2006 This book is a good game-by-game synopsis of the first 90 or so years of Purdue football history. It kept my interest quite well and had my heart pumping mightily at times. It was enjoyable to read about Mackey and Ross Ade, Len Dawson, Mike Phipps and Bob Griese from the perspective of 1974. These are guys I have never seen play, but know they helped build the reputation of Purdue football. The only complaint I have is the description of every single game got a bit tiresome at points. I would have liked some of that space used to detail other aspects of the program, like the change in recruiting, evolution of the Big Ten, etc. Overall, this is a must read for any Purdue sports fan, especially since it is the only book that chronicles this era.
